Landy Lee is an erhu soloist who has lived in California for almost 30 years.  She was born in Taichung, Taiwan, and throughout her childhood, she has had a passion for music. When she was ten years old, Mr. Kuo Changsong introduced  her to erhu. It not only gave her the fundamentals for Chinese music, but also became an important part of her life. For three years, she was a member of the Taiwan Zhongxin Chinese Music Orchestra.

After coming to the United States, she stopped playing erhu for many years because of school, work, and family activities.  About 10 years ago, she decided to pick up the erhu again and learn from professor Gao Yao Hwa and famous erhu soloist Karen Han. She also became a member of both the Los Angeles Chinese Orchestra and Silk Bamboo Orchestra.

Since 2006, she has been a dedicated student of erhu master Siu Pak-yung.  Master Siu’s mottos are, without understanding Yin-yang, you cannot understand Chinese music; without understanding the lines between fast and slow, loud and quiet, you cannot fully appreciate the true beauty of Chinese music. For the last few years, she has continued to follow the teachings of Master Siu. She is slowly starting to fully appreciate the uniqueness of the Chinese music world. She believes the creation of modern Chinese music can only take roots from traditional music.
